Estimates, job cards, spare parts, skoðun and service reminders and customer messages in one cloud program, for garages from Reykjavík and Akureyri to the smaller towns. Invoices carry your VSK number; the return itself stays outside Promec.
Promec's Quotes screen: every estimate by status, found by registration number, with its record and AI analysis.
Keeping a garage going on scattered tools costs you jobs. One board for the whole garage.
Each fault is priced from zero again, and a driver kept waiting for an answer rings the next bílaverkstæði.
The estimate goes out and nobody follows up. Without a nudge it simply lapses.
Invoices, bookkeeping, supplier bills and one more licence to pay. Every hour of it is an hour away from the car.
From a busy bílaverkstæði in Kópavogur to a small garage in Selfoss or Akureyri, Promec handles the usual chain of work: taking the car in, the estimate, the mechanic's phone app, spare parts, customer messages, and invoices that carry your VSK number and the tax rate on each line, in the currency you set up.
Promec does not connect to Skatturinn, the Icelandic tax authority, and it does not file the VSK return. The return stays in your accounting software or with your accountant. Only Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Chile and Colombia have a direct tax-authority link in Promec today.
The first call, the inspection, the go-ahead, the repair and the payment all live in one record.
The AI takes the customer's description or the OBD codes, proposes the repair and prices it from your labour rate and your parts margins.
WhatsApp Business API, SMS and email go out from the job itself. Each customer gets a status page to follow the repair and approve extra work from a phone.
Invoices run in your own series with the VSK number and the tax rate you set on each line, while income and expenses are booked as you work. Promec is not connected to Skatturinn, the Icelandic tax authority. The VSK return is prepared in your accounting software or by your accountant.
OBD codes are read and explained in plain words, new and used parts are stocked and searchable, and your own technical documents stay one click away.
Plan the day in the diary, spread work over the bays, shift jobs on the board when one runs long and see what each mechanic really delivers. Mechanics update their jobs from a phone.
Every plan includes all of this.
The garage's number is answered inside Promec, missed calls are listed, and every call leaves a short summary on the customer's record.
Drivers check their own car in while the mechanics carry on working.
Offers reach the customers and cars already stored in Promec, with no separate mailing list to keep.
Clocking in, absences and personnel files next to the jobs.
Fear of the changeover is why many garages never move. Video lessons and guides inside the program make it lighter.
The numbers an owner watches, and a log of who changed which record.
Clocking in, photos of the car, the job report and the customer's signature are done beside the car. Each one updates the status page the customer follows.
The customer opens a private link and sees the status, the estimate to approve, documents and live video from the garage camera.
Customers sign in, add their cars, read the earlier work and get a message before the next service or skoðun. Bookings come from people who already know your garage.
Skoðun. Registered vehicles are inspected regularly, and the main inspection (aðalskoðun) is done only by accredited inspection stations (skoðunarstofur). The Icelandic Transport Authority, Samgöngustofa, recognises them, and they must hold type A accreditation to ISO/IEC 17020 under Regulation No. 414/2021 on vehicle inspection. Ísland.is names four of them: Aðalskoðun, Frumherji, Betri skoðun and Tékkland. How often a car goes depends on its type and age, and the sticker on the number plate shows the next inspection year.
A result of major deficiencies means the owner must come back for a re-inspection (endurskoðun) at a station or an approved re-inspection workshop, and a car can also be banned from use. That is why skoðun brings in repair work. In Promec the next inspection date sits on each vehicle, the reminder goes out before it, and whatever the inspector flagged becomes an estimate on the same record.
Another dependable visit is the seasonal tyre change to and from vetrardekk, winter tyres. Campaigns to your own customers, sent from Promec, are one way to fill those weeks.

A visitor sends the car and the fault, and the enquiry arrives ready to price.
The AI gives a price while the driver is still ringing around.
A service, an oil change or the skoðun coming due sends the car back to your bay.
After each job a review request goes out, and locals searching for a garage find yours more easily.
Ask us first whether this is switched on in Iceland. If it is, we can turn on requests from private drivers nearby who need a repair. You choose the jobs that suit you and set the price, without relying on insurers or fleet contracts.

VSK. Skatturinn (Iceland Revenue and Customs) administers value added tax, virðisaukaskattur. Only businesses registered on the VSK register may show VAT on invoices. Skatturinn lists what a sales invoice must contain: issue date, the seller's name, kennitala and registration number, the buyer's name and kennitala, a description of what was sold, quantity, unit price and total, and whether VAT is included and how much it is. In Promec you set the series and tax rate for each line. The VSK return is submitted electronically outside Promec, in your accounting software or through your accountant.
E-invoices. Skatturinn accepts electronic sales invoices as accounting documents, provided the electronic bookkeeping conditions are met. Separately, public buyers must receive electronic invoices to the European standard EN 16931 under Regulation No. 44/2019 on electronic invoices in public procurement. Promec is not connected to any Icelandic tax or invoicing network.
Personal data. Act No. 90/2018 on data protection and the processing of personal data gives the GDPR legal force in Iceland through the EEA Agreement. Persónuvernd, the Data Protection Authority, supervises it. Reminders reach only the customers who agreed to them, and every message stays on file.

Customers, cars and repair history are loaded while invoicing goes on as usual.
You give us your labour rate and the AI prepares a genuine estimate.
Drivers follow the repair and approve work from their phones.
AI estimates and WhatsApp follow-ups are working.
Our team migrates your data from your current system. You touch nothing and keep invoicing normally while we move everything.
Data transfer may carry additional costs depending on the source system and data volume. See terms.
Start with 3 months for €1 and cancel whenever you like from your subscription area. Pick your billing cycle above.
Prices exclude VAT, for businesses and self-employed. €1 in total for the first 3 months, taxes included. From the fourth month the chosen plan is billed automatically. No lock-in: you can cancel before that date. You also have a 15-day money-back withdrawal right. Calls and WhatsApp usage are billed separately.
Every module takes over a job that is done today on paper, in a spreadsheet or from memory. Below: what each one does, and what to have ready on day one.
Type the registration number and the job opens with the owner's complaint, the mileage, the state of the car and photos from a phone. Parts, hours and the customer's go-ahead all attach to that one record, so nothing depends on which mechanic took the keys. Have ready: registration numbers, VIN where you keep it, the customer's billing details and your hourly rate.
An estimate is built from labour and parts lines and goes to the customer as a link to accept or decline. Once accepted it becomes the job without retyping. The invoice comes from the finished job in its own series, with your VSK number and the tax rate you choose per line. Promec does not send anything to Skatturinn, so the VSK return is prepared elsewhere. Before your first invoice, check its layout against the items Skatturinn lists for a sales invoice. Have ready: invoice series, tax rates, rates per type of job and how customers usually pay.
Each part has a shelf location, cost price, selling price and minimum stock, new or used. Putting it on a job takes it out of stock, and dropping under the minimum puts it on the order list. Supplier delivery notes are matched to orders, which matters when parts come in by sea or air and you need to know what has arrived, what is paid and what is just sitting there. Have ready: the parts list with prices, your suppliers and one stock count.
A booking takes a bay and a mechanic for an estimated time, so you can see whether Thursday really has room before you promise the car. Web bookings land in the same diary, and cars waiting for parts stay visible without blocking a bay. Have ready: number of bays, opening hours, mechanics and how long your common jobs take.
The customer hears when the estimate is ready, when work starts and when the car can be collected, on the channel they agreed to. Reminders for a service or the skoðun go out ahead of the date saved on the vehicle, and each message stays on the record. Have ready: phone numbers and emails customers consented to, and each car's next skoðun date.
Sales by period, margin on labour against parts, estimates sent against accepted, bay use and the mix of jobs, all from records already in the system. Two uses stand out: seeing whether your hourly rate covers your costs, and finding the part you buy dear and sell cheap. Have ready: nothing extra.
Send the export from your present program. We clean it first (customers entered twice, one part under several names), load it into a test copy for you to check, and then you set bays, rates and permissions. For the first days, invoice in Promec and keep the old program to look things up. Reception, mechanics and office staff are trained separately, on your own jobs. You can export your data at any time, including the day you leave.
No. Promec has no link to Skatturinn and files nothing. It issues your invoices with your VSK number and the tax rates you set, and keeps the sales and expense records behind them. The return is prepared in your accounting software or by your accountant. A direct tax-authority link exists only in Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Chile and Colombia.
Yes. Save the next inspection date on the car and Promec reminds the owner before it, on the channel they agreed to. The date is the one you enter, so check it against the sticker on the plate, which shows the next inspection year.
Whatever the inspector found can be entered as an estimate on the same vehicle record and sent to the owner for approval. The re-inspection (endurskoðun) is done at an inspection station or at a workshop the Icelandic Transport Authority has approved for it. Promec does not report to the stations or to Samgöngustofa; you note the result on the vehicle.
Public buyers in Iceland must be able to receive electronic invoices that follow the European standard EN 16931, as adapted by the national specification TS 236:2017. Promec does not list that format among its features, so ask us before you rely on it for public customers.
Promec processes data under the GDPR, which applies in Iceland through the EEA Agreement and Act No. 90/2018. Your garage, as controller of its customers' data, has its own duties under that Act, supervised by Persónuvernd. Messages go only to contacts who agreed to them, and each one is logged.
The Promec price list is in euros. Invoices follow the series, taxes and currency you set up. If you want to invoice in Icelandic króna, ask us how it would be configured before you switch.
No. The first three months cost €1, you can cancel from your subscription area at any time, and there is a 15-day money-back right.
